About Vanessa Bramlee
Vanessa Bramlee has always had a vivid imagination, a deep appreciation for the human form, and a sex-positive, inclusive lens on life.
Self-described as having been “raised by gay men,” she spent many years in Toronto, Ontario, living in a gloriously rainbow-tinted world. She still remembers the strange sensation she felt when a lesbian gal pal introduced her to a girlfriend of hers as her “straight friend” — a label that never quite fit, since she “likes boobies, but is a bit scared of the flaps.”
That’s when she realized it’s not just straight people who try to pin others neatly into boxes.
Her characters reflect the full, messy, beautiful spectrum of human sexuality, often resisting categorization altogether. For those who feel compelled to slap labels on everything, she offers this: when you’re writing your own world, you decide what’s natural.
In her world, love, desire, and identity don’t follow hard and fast rules — sometimes they meander, sometimes they sprint, and sometimes they take off all their clothes and rewrite the damn manual while watching cartoons.
